Filing Period for City & School Board Elections Now Open

 

SAN ANGELO – Applications to run for the San Angelo City Council and the San Angelo Independent School District Board of Trustees are now being accepted for the May 2023 election.  

The City of San Angelo is holding regular elections for City Council members for single-member districts 1, 3 and 5 to four-year terms. 

District 1 Councilman Tommy Hiebert and District 3 Councilman Harry Thomas have filed for reelection.  

The filing period for candidates closes at 5 p.m. Feb. 17, 2023.

The City is also holding a referendum on whether to elect or appoint the Police Chief on the May 6, 2023 ballot.  

The San Angelo ISD is holding elections for School Board Trustee in Districts 5 and 6 and the at-large trustee seat.  

According to the District website, Pam Duncan is the current at-large trustee, Max Parker represents District 5, and Gerard Gallegos represents District 6.  Duncan was appointed to the School Board in September 2022 after long time trustee Lanny Layman retired.
