Angelo State University Agrees to Transfer Deal with Cambodian University

SAN ANGELO, TX – Angelo State University has signed a series of agreements with BELTEI International University (BIU) in Cambodia that will bring Cambodian transfer students to ASU to complete their studies in 10 different undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

The undergraduate agreement is for a 2+2 Undergraduate Transfer Program that will entail Cambodian students completing their first two years of study at BIU and then transferring to ASU to complete their bachelor's degrees. The program includes eight academic majors:

  • Accounting
  • Communication
  • Computer Science
  • Finance
  • International Business
  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Mathematics

The graduate agreements are for a Joint Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program and a Joint Master of Arts (M.A.) in Administrative Leadership Program. Each program will consist of 10 courses (30 credit hours) with the first four courses completed at BIU and then six courses completed through ASU.

  • For the MBA Program, the six ASU courses can be completed either online or on campus.
  • For the M.A. in Administrative Leadership Program, the six ASU courses will be completed online.

"This is a great step for both Angelo State and BELTEI International University," said Dr. Don Topliff, ASU provost and vice president for academic affairs. "The breadth of programs encompassed by these agreements illustrates the strength of ASU's programs and the desire of BIU's students to obtain a valuable American education that will put them in position to be true global leaders for their country."

Efforts toward finalizing the agreements were spearheaded by Dr. Won-Jae Lee, ASU executive director of Asian relations to the provost and vice president for academic affairs. The agreements were signed during a joint virtual ceremony with BIU leadership and Lee at the BIU campus in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and ASU leadership on the ASU campus.

For the 2022 fall semester, ASU has 210 international students from 33 countries with the vast majority from Asian countries, including South Korea (102), Vietnam (32), Burma (11) and Cambodia (7). The new agreements with BIU will create an influx of students from Cambodia and help boost ASU's international student enrollment back toward the level it was at prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
