San Angelo ISD Central Oaks St. Campus Closed Suddenly

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Independent School District announced Thursday that classes at the Central Oakes St. campus will be moved online Friday due to a water issue.

According to the San Angelo ISD, on Feb. 4, due to water pressure issues at the Central High School on Oakes campus related to a City of San Angelo water main break, out of an abundance of caution, all Central on Oakes 9th grade students will not report to campus Friday, February 5, 2021 and instead will connect online through Schoology. The City is working diligently to repair the water main in an attempt to bring the water pressure back to the campus, but at this time the issue is expected to continue throughout tomorrow with little to no access to water.

Students will need to use the Schoology Learning Management System, and will be expected to log in to all courses through Schoology and 1) complete an assignment, 2) make progress in the course, or 3) communicate with the teacher through Schoology. All students must log into their second period for attendance purposes.  Completion of assignments and communications can occur throughout the day and does not necessarily have to occur during the scheduled class period. Extracurricular activities and athletic schedules will be communicated by coaches and sponsors. Students that have scheduled classes at Central High School Main Campus may attend those in-person but are not required. You may log-into those classes through Schoology.

Central High School on Oakes students can pick up “grab-and-go” curbside lunches as part of the free meals for all children between 1:00 - 1:35 pm at Lee Middle School - 2500 Sherwood Way. Parents and students will not need to pre-order meals through SchoolCafe.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We appreciate the City working to resolve this issue and the understanding and cooperation of our Central on Oakes students, families and staff.
