ASU Foundation Adds Board Member

SAN ANGELO, TX – Angelo State University alumnus Will Welch has joined the Board of Trustees of the ASU Foundation, a public, nonprofit organization established to provide financial assistance to ASU, primarily through gifts and earnings on endowed funds.

An ASU management graduate, Welch currently serves as CEO of CalTech, an information technology firm based in San Angelo. Right out of college in 1995, he co-founded Outback Computer Service with Brent McCasland. In 1998, their business merged with CalTech, and the pair assumed ownership within the same year.

Since then, Welch has been leading CalTech to success. In April 2020, The Channel Company named CalTech to its 2020 Managed Service Provider (MSP) 500 list in the Managed Security 100 category. CalTech has also been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas every year since 2014.

Welch and his wife, Brendy, who is also an Angelo State alum, have two daughters and one son. Through Caltech, they are members of the ASU Alumni Association, President’s Circle and Ram Club, and have given generously to Angelo State.

“ASU has been great to CalTech and our family,” Welch said. “We are blessed to work with over 40 Angelo State alumni in cities all over Texas, and we continue to find the best work ethic and talent right here in our back yard! Our daughter, Meagan, and her husband, Jaron Yarbrough, are ASU alumni. Our youngest daughter, Candace, is now attending as a 2020 freshman. We obviously love our Ram Fam!”

“We are delighted to have Will join us on the ASU Foundation board,” said Jamie Akin, ASU vice president for development and alumni relations. “As a first-generation student turned highly successful alum, Will is the epitome of Angelo State University’s mission. We are so glad he has chosen to serve for the betterment of ASU.”
