SAN ANGELO, TX – Angelo State University’s 16th annual Phil George Blue & Gold fundraising event for ASU athletics, one of the largest yearly gatherings of donors and alumni, will be conducted in a virtual format this year as a responsible approach to addressing the current COVID-19 situation.
According to a press release, the Phil George Blue & Gold Dinner and Auction is the ASU Athletic Department’s biggest fundraiser. It benefits ASU student-athletes and coaches by providing funding for scholarships, enrichment programs and recruiting.
This year’s Blue & Gold event will feature a five-day online silent auction and a virtual live program and auction. The silent auction will open on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 5 p.m. and run until Sunday, Aug. 9, at 5 p.m. The virtual live program and auction will take place on Friday, Aug. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
More details and instructions on how to bid on auction items and join the virtual live event will be posted at angelo.edu/bluegold as they are finalized. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit ASU’s 340 student-athletes who have won 19 Lone Star Conference regular-season and tournament championships over the last four years.
Crockett National Bank is again the title sponsor for this year’s Blue & Gold event. Additional sponsorships and donations of items for the silent and live auctions are still being accepted. Full details on all the available auction items will be posted closer to the event date.
