Texas First Lady To Host Virtual "Stars of Texas Storytime"

AUSTIN, TX – Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott has announced she will be hosting a virtual storytime program twice a week.

According to KXAN, the program named “Stars of Texas Storytime” will be broadcast on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:00 a.m. on social media. The event will be live-streamed on Facebook on Governor Abbott’s page.

The First Lady will be joined by the families two golden retrievers, Peaches and Pancake, at the beginning of Tuesday’s live stream. She will be reading Night-Night Texas by Katherine Sully, followed by Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault.

“As Texas families stay at home because of COVID-19, it is important that we find ways to connect as a community while maintaining social distancing,” said First Lady Abbott. “I am thrilled to launch the Stars of Texas Storytime program, which will give families across the state an opportunity to hear children’s stories read by influential Texans.”
