Grape Creek ISD Offers Children Free Meals and Educational Resources

SAN ANGELO, TX – In an effort to ensure students have access to healthy meal options during school closures, Grape Creek ISD will be offering free grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches to children under the age of 18. They are also offering resources and tools for students to use as they wait to return to school.

The district announced it will be hosting several pickup sites as well as delivering meals. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and lunch will be available from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Children must be present to receive the meals, but everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the free service.

Regular education routes (1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 10) will stop by regular pick-up and drop-off addresses with a driver and at least one aide/food service worker to manage the distribution of meals.

For houses with students who are not regular riders, the district will contact them the day before to provide an approximate time busses will be at their address.

For students who board the bus at centralized locations, the district will notify them of the location to meet the bus and the approximate time. The school will adjust its “SafeSTOP” program so parents can use it to enable them to know when the bus is approaching or has arrived.

Students and children that live within two miles of the school may pick up food at one of the distribution locations:

  • Northside of Grape Creek Elementary at 9633 Grape Creek Road
  • Grape Creek Middle School at 7752 Tomahawk Lane
  • Grape Creek Administration parking lot at 8207 US Hwy. 87 North

Educational resources will be available through the Grape Creek ISD Website, Google Classroom, and teacher communication tools such as REMIND and DOJO. Students who are not able to access the internet may pick up an instructional packet during foodservice distribution delivery and pick-up services as well.

The school continues to work with local public health agencies and community partners to make adequate decisions for students and staff. All facilities will be cleaned with medical-grade disinfectants in alignment with the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The district will continue to provide updates using REMIND, DOJO, the Grape Creek ISD website, and local media.
