SAISD Will Offer Free Meals During School Closure Due to Coronavirus

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Independent School District will be offering free grab-and-go meals to its students during the current closure.

“As a District, we are committed to helping our families during this time of closure,” said the district in a statement.

Beginning, Tuesday, March 17 SAISD’s Child Nutrition Department will prepare and distribute meals for children ages 18 years or younger at five sites. Children do not need to attend any of the schools listed to receive a meal.

The healthy meals provided will include protein, grains, fruit, and vegetable. Milk will also be available.

Each “grab-and-go” meal will come at no charge, regardless of meal eligibility status, but children must be present to receive a meal.

The curbside meals can be picked up at the following locations:

  • Belaire Elementary – 700 Stephens
  • Bradford Elementary – 2302 Bradford Street
  • Crockett Elementary – 2104 Johnson
  • Goliad Elementary – 120 East 39th Street
  • Lee Middle School – 2500 Sherwood Way

Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Parents may drive through the car loop (front of each campus listed) to pick up meals for their children. They are advised to stay in their cars.  Families that walk to the campus will also be served a “grab-and-go” meal. There will be no areas available to consume food on site.

As of this time, meals will be provided until Friday, March 20. If schools remain closed beyond that date, the district is committed to providing these services until schools reopen.
