AUSTIN, TX – The 86th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 3 that creates a state registry meant to catalog people who are not eligible to be hired by a Texas public school.
According to KTXS, the registry will list individuals who are not eligible for hire in a Texas public school based on misconduct or criminal history. The new bill will also require schools to report certain allegations of misconduct against non-certified employees.
By being made available to both public and private schools, the registry will “further protect the safety and welfare of Texas students."
The registry will be available to schools at first, with public access coming in April from the Texas Education Agency. For more information about the registry click on the following link.
