Concho Valley Council of Governments Offers Grant Money to Help You Afford Head Start This Year

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Administration of Children and Families, through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, awarded the Concho Valley Council of Governments a five-year Head Start/Early Head Start grant.  The Head Start/Early Head Start programs provide comprehensive services to children and families to foster healthy relationships as well as to ensure continuing education to provide bright futures to our area’s youth.

The Concho Valley Council of Governments has worked with leadership at the San Angelo Independent School District throughout the application and award process in an effort to provide the highest quality services to our most disadvantaged children.  The program will serve children in Tom Green, Schleicher, Menard, Kimble, Crockett, Concho, and Irion counties.  In the interest of continuity and collaboration, Head Start and Early Head Start in San Angelo will continue to operate at the Blackshear, Day, and Rio Vista campuses.

Concho Valley Council of Governments is already taking applications and is currently enrolling children for the upcoming school year.  If you have any questions please contact John Austin Stokes, Executive Director, or Kathy Bennett, Head Start Director at 325-944-9666.

Concho Valley Council of Governments would like to thank all of its regional partners for their help in securing this much needed program for our region.

The Concho Valley Council of Governments has been in existence for fifty-two years. It is a voluntary organization of local governments that exists to foster a cooperative effort in resolving problems, policies, and plans that are common and regional.
