SAN ANGELO, TX -- San Angelo ISD has named Dr. Farrah Gomez as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Professional Learning.
According to the District, Dr. Gomez will replace Matt Kimball who is the lone finalist for Superintendent of Blue Ridge ISD.
A San Angelo native, Dr. Gomez received a Bachelor of Science degree from Angelo State University and a Master of Science degree from Texas A & M, Kingsville. Dr. Gomez earned her Doctorate of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University.
Dr. Gomez began her teaching career in SAISD where she taught at Bonham Elementary and Lee Middle School before moving to South Texas. As Pleasanton ISD’s Director of Curriculum, she focused on elementary education, working closely with curriculum alignment, student performance data, and benchmark interventions. Dr. Gomez returned to San Angelo ISD in 2009, where she served as principal at both Fannin Elementary and Lee Middle School before being named Executive Director of Schools in 2015.
“Dr. Gomez brings a high level of enthusiasm and a zest for learning to her new role,” said SAISD Superintendent Dr. Carl Dethloff. “Farrah is highly collaborative and utilizes her experiences as both a secondary and elementary principal to support and lead professional learning that enhances classroom instruction. Dr. Gomez will continue to build our human capital as a district to benefit student success and keep our classrooms flourishing with talented educators. We look forward to watching her soar in this new role.”
Dr. Gomez is an active member of the community and serves on the San Angelo Performing Arts (SAPAC) board of directors and the YMCA board of directors. Dr. Gomez and her husband are the parents of two children; one is a graduate of Central High School and the other is a student at Central High School.

PermalinkAssistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Professional Learning??? What the heck is professional learning? Someone actually got paid to come up with this title? I guess school districts have to do something with those who get their PhD, so they just make something up. She's probably getting at or near a 6 figure salary as well.
After a little research, SAISD website confirms the 6 figure salary. Altogether, the top 16 administrative positions, excluding the Supt. of Schools, are earning, at the mid-point range, approximately $1.7 million per year.
Wow....
