San Angelo Glenn Middle School Social Media Rumor Debunked

SAN ANGELO, TX -- San Angelo Independent School District officials released a statement concerning a social media rumor about Glenn Middle School on Wednesday.

According to the SAISD website, "There was a rumor concerning school safety at Glenn Middle School late yesterday (Tuesday)  afternoon. SAISD investigated immediately with the direct involvement of San Angelo Police Department. There was nothing found to be factual regarding the rumor. The rumor spread on social media, causing unrest among parents and students. SAISD takes all reports seriously and will continue to work with SAPD to ensure student safety. Keeping students and staff safe is our top priority.

It is important that we continue to explain to students and families our process for reporting any safety concerns directly to school personnel. Telling friends or posting on social media is how rumors get started. Ways for students and families to report safety concerns include:

  • Students can tell a teacher, staff member, counselor, or administrator
  • Report the concern on our district Stay Alert link on the SAISD website (www.saisd.org )
  • Contact the school or district directly
  • Student reports will be kept confidential.

Our district will continue to work together with students, staff, families, and SAPD to create safe learning environments. We will remain focused on teaching and learning in our schools and keeping students safe. Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work together to ensure the safest environment for our students and staff."
