BROWNWOOD, TX-- Improved Traffic Flow for East Elementary Implemented The City of Brownwood and Brownwood ISD asks all motorists to be aware of a change in traffic patterns surrounding East Elementary.
City of Brownwood, along with Brownwood ISD devised a plan that would accommodate vehicular traffic around the school while maximizing the safety of students and other pedestrians.
The City of Brownwood has placed a new 4-way stop at Idlewild and Vincent, and a 3-way stop at the intersection of Roanoke and Vincent. The additional stop signs are to prevent excessive lines of vehicles on Vincent, and to allow drivers to enter the East Elementary School area more efficiently. There is now a through-lane for motorists on Vincent who are not picking up or dropping off students. Nine additional parking spaces have been gained on Vincent with restriping. Vincent is now one way from Roanoke to Idlewild.
Attached is the map that shows the new traffic plan for East Elementary. Copies of the map will also be available at the East Elementary Meet the Teacher event scheduled for today Monday, August 20th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Additionally, Chief Nichols and Chief Fuller will be at the Meet the Teacher event today to answer any questions parents may have. A patrol unit has also been assigned to help work the area the first few days of school to help facilitate the new traffic flow.
