BIG SPRING, TX – (Press Release) During the regularly scheduled June meeting of the Howard College Board of Trustees, Mr. Ryan Williams resigned his at-large position due to personal reasons. Now the board finds itself in a position to address the vacancy in order to fill the term until the next election in 2020.
“Mr. Williams had to resign his position due to personal reasons and the board decided to utilize the appointment option to fill the role until the next scheduled election which will be in 2020,” said Dr. John Freeman, Board Chairman. “The resignation of Ryan is certainly a loss but we feel certain there are qualified applicants in our community ready to take an active role in this board.”
The board will be taking letters of interest and resumes for the vacant at-large position through the deadline of 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018. A special meeting will then be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at which time the board will have individual interviews at designated times in closed session with the candidates who have submitted their letters of interest and resumes.
Candidates who will be unable to personally appear for an interview on July 16, 2018 will be able to submit additional information regarding their experience and interest in the position. This information will be reviewed by the board for consideration in lieu of the personal interview during that candidate’s designated interview time.
The full process will conclude with the appointment of the trustee on Tuesday, July 17 in another Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees will then conduct the swearing-in of the selected candidate at a date to be determined in July 2018.
