Goodfellow AFB to Unveil STEM Education Program for San Angelo Elementary Students

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Leaders from Goodfellow, San Angelo ISD, and the San Angelo Fine Arts Museum will come together for a ribbon cutting ceremony dedicating building 901 to the new Starbase program on October 4 at 2 p.m. at Goodfellow Air Force Base.

In partnership with San Angelo ISD, the Starbase program will schedule over 1,200 fifth graders to participate in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) focused activities, exposing them to various technical opportunities and to the military environment. This is the fourth Starbase program in the state of Texas.

Col Ricky Mills, 17th training wing commander, Mr. Howard Taylor, Director, San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, Mr. Rodney Mayberry, Board President, San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, and Dr. Carl Dethloff, Superintendent, San Angelo ISD will cut the ribbon.  There will also be tours of the facility and light refreshments.
