For the second straight year, Angelo State University student Josiah Hernandez, a senior from San Angelo, has been awarded a fellowship to attend the national Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in Washington, D.C., in April, said a press release Wednesday.
The KCACTF Leadership Fellowship is awarded to only a select group of U.S. students who are planning careers in arts management. Hernandez and the other fellows will be immersed in the management side of the national theatre festival April 10-16. They will also meet and network with administrators from area regional theatres.
Hernandez, who will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Arts in theatre, was student co-host for the KCACTF Region 6 hosted by ASU in February. The regional festival drew more than 750 students from college theatre programs across Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
Launched in 1969, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival includes more than 600 academic institutions nationwide participating in eight regional festivals. More information is available online at www.kennedy-center.org/education/actf/.
Angelo State will host the Region 6 festival again in 2017. For more information, contact University Theatre at 325-942-2146.
