Angelo State University ranked No.10 in the “Top 50 Online Education Management Degree Programs” across the U.S., according to Top Management Degrees for 2016.
A recent press release noted that the university's online Masters of Education in Educational Administration degree is one of the seven programs at Texas schools to make the list. Top Management Degrees is a management and business education source guide.
ASU’s education program has been accredited by NCATE since 2011, and has also been acknowledged by the State Board for Education Certification/ Texas Education Agency and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The release stated that only programs accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) or their newly-consolidated Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) were eligible for the rankings.
Other criteria included institutional reputation and prestige, program flexibility and tuition costs. Data sources included U.S. News and World Report, Princeton Review and the National Center for Education Statistics.
The online M.Ed. in educational administration is a 36-credit-hour program designed for educators seeking careers as principals, superintendents or school administrators. By completing the program at ASU, students have the option to take the TExES exam for the Professional Certificate for Principals in the State of Texas.
This also allows students to be eligible for ASU’s Texas Superintendent Certification Program after passing the exam.
In January, ASU’s overall graduate program was ranked No.36 in the nation by U.S. News and Reports for its 2016 edition of “Best Online Programs.”
The other Texas schools with education programs in the Top Management Degrees rankings are Lamar University, Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M University, University of Houston, University of North Texas and University of Texas at Arlington.
