ASU's ROTC Detachment 847 Hosts Fall Commissioning Ceremony

 

Angelo State University's Air Force ROTC Detachment 847 will host its Fall Commissioning Ceremony for a graduating cadet on December 12, said a press release Tuesday. The ceremony will be hosted in room 100 of the Mathematics-Computer Science Building at 2200 Dena Drive at 10 a.m.

This event is free and open to the public, and the dress code for military personnel attending is uniform of the day.

According to the press release, ASU Cadet Col. Jacob Spiller of Hamilton will receive his commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. Spiller is a business management major and was the 2015 Cadet of the Year for the Southwest Region. Previously a nine-year enlisted member of the Air Force who served as an F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft crew chief, Spiller has already been selected for his first choice in the Air Force aircraft maintenance career field upon commissioning.

Air Force Lt. Col. Scott M. Partin, who is the commander of ASU's ROTC Detachment 847, will be the speaker at the ceremony. Parting, who also serves as a professor and head of ASU's Department fo Aerospace Studies, was an Air Force enlisted airman before earning his commission through Air Force ROTC.
