ASU Provides Details on Fall Commencement Ceremonies

 

More than 500 students are scheduled to graduate during Angelo State University's fall commencement ceremonies on December 12, said a press release Tuesday. The ceremonies will take place in the Junell Center/Stephens Arena at 2235 S. Jackson St.

During the 10 a.m. ceremony, graduates of the College of Education and Archer College of Health and Human Services will walk the stage. Graduates of the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Business will then walk the stage at 2 p.m. All of ASU's  commencement activities are open and free to the public. The ceremonies can also be viewed live on the ASU website at www.angelo.edu/commencement/fall201….

According to the press release, during ASU's commencement, 131 master's degrees and 372 bachelor's degrees are scheduled to be presented. Graduate students will earn 14 master of arts, five master of professional accountancy, five master of business administration, 65 master of education, 24 master of science, one master of science in nursing, and 17 master of security studies degrees.

Undergraduates will receive 62 bachelor of arts, 65 bachelor of business administration, 2 bachelor of border security, 10 bachelor of fine arts, 1 bachelor of intelligence, security studies and analysis, 20 bachelor of interdisciplinary studies, 3 bachelor of music, 150 bachelor of science, 49 bachelor of science in nursing, and 10 bachelor of security studies degrees.

U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Eric Coy Young will be the commencement speaker. Young is a 1984 graduate of ASU and a commander of the U.S. Navy Reserve Forces Command in Norfolk, Virginia.

The commencement ceremonies are just one part of two days of graduation related events on campus. The ASU Nursing Department will conduct its annual pinning ceremony on December 11, and on December 12, ASU's Air Force ROTC Detachment 847 will conduct its fall Commissioning Ceremony.
