Southwest Council Announces New Head of Region's Boy Scouts

 

The Texas Southwest Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) welcomes Devin D. Koehler, CFRE as its new Scout Executive/CEO, effective November 1. Devin comes to San Angelo and the Southwest Council from the Sam Houston Area Council, Houston as a 15 year veteran of the BSA with Scouting involvement since 1987.

As a youth member in New Braunfels, he earned the Arrow of Light, Eagle Scout and the William T. Hornaday Conservation Award. He has also completed Woodbadge, the Commissioner's Arrowhead, Scouter's Key, and Doctorate of Commissioner Science. Devin is a Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow and a James E. West Fellow. After graduating from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, he started his career at the Conquistador Council in Hobbs, New Mexico as a District Executive. In March of 2006, he was promoted to Field Director of the Concho Valley Council. In January 2011 he was promoted to Senior Development Director of Endowment and Planned Giving for the Sam Houston Area Council.

Outside of Scouting Devin Enjoys RVing, hunting, photography, kayaking and spending time with his wife Deon and their four sons.

Koehler replaces Rick Reeve who resigned the head position in May.

The Southwest Council consists of Boy Scouts of America troops from Uvalde to Fort Stockton in addition to the Concho Valley. It serves 1,600 scouts and 700 adult volunteers  in 23 counties. The Southwest Council claims 29 Eagle Scouts.
