Angelo State to Recognize 8 Distinguished Alumni at Awards Banquet

 

The Angelo State University Alumni Association will recognize eight distinguished alumni, honorary alumni and outstanding faculty and staff during its annual Homecoming Dinner on Friday, Oct. 16, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

Activities will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available from the Alumni Association for $60 per person or $100 per couple.

Lloyd Norris, Class of 1973, will be honored as the 2015 Distinguished Alumnus. The former chairman of the board for Town & Country Food Stores is also a past president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Alex Decuir, a star basketball and baseball player who was voted Mr. San Angelo College in 1964, will be recognized as the 2015 Golden Ex of the Year. Dr. Kathryn Artnak, who was a member of the nursing faculty from 1995-2014, will be honored as the 2015 Outstanding Retired Faculty.

Also recognized will be Tia Agan, a field experience advisor for the College of Education, as the 2015 Distinguished Carr Scholar Alumna; Dr. John Klingemann, chair of the Department of History and interim chair of the Department of Communication and Mass Media, for Distinguished Faculty Achievement; Air Force Maj. Orlando Lopez, Class of 2003, as Distinguished ROTC Alumnus; Brandy Hawkins, ASU’s director of grants and operations, as 2015 Outstanding Staff; and Jeremy Bryant, the voice of ASU athletics, as 2015 Honorary Alumnus.
