Angelo State University students and faculty now have a free ride on the weekends via the Ram Tram provided by TRANSA. It will run exclusive to anyone with an ASU ID, Fridays from 5:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
Ram Tram will make pick- ups on the ASU campus at Centennial Village and Plaza Verde and then take route through southwest San Angelo, Sherwood Way, downtown, and back to campus. Two buses have been designated for this purpose, the larger of the two holds up to 24 people, the smaller holds 14, each will run every hour on the half hour.
Robert Cardona has been driving TRANSA buses for ten years now and will be one of the lead drivers of the Ram Tram. “I think it will really benefit the foreign exchange students in particular,” he said. “I see them walking to places like HEB all of the time, this will give them a safer way to get there.”
Ram Tram will not only give students a lift to pick up groceries, but to Academy and Best Buy, Wal Mart on Sherwood Way ,and the Sunset Mall. Ram Tram is also dropping off and picking up at the corner of Chadbourne St. and Concho Ave., providing transportation for any college student looking to experience downtown night life. On the southwest side of town, the shuttle will provide service to and from Midnight Rodeo.
