San Angelo Civic Ballet Announces New Director

The San Angelo Civic Ballet announced a change in artistic directorship Thursday. The Ballet announced they hired a new Artistic Director, Gina Patterson.

Outgoing Director Meghann Bridgeman will moving to Dallas to pursue her joint graduate degree in Arts and Business Administration (MA/MBA) at Southern Methodist University. The Ballet's board of directors said they are excited to see Meghann continue to pursue her higher education and look forward to seeing what her future holds.

The Ballet board said that Meghann has been a positive leader of the organization for the past nine years, developing and expanding the programming and budget dramatically. She has made valuable ties to the community and has fully committed to bringing high quality dance education to San Angelo. She has loved her students; ensuring quality classical ballet training while encouraging goals and fulfilling professional ballet tracks for many.

The board expressed that it has been a privilege to work alongside this talented and smart artistic director.

Incoming director Ms. Patterson has been an active choreographer and instructor for the Ballet over the past few years. With a long career as a principal artist, Ms. Patterson brings a rich and varied background in both classical ballet and contemporary dance. She brings a multi-disciplinary, collaborative element to her work and process. Ms. Patterson has received numerous awards for her choreography; namely the Choo San Goh Award for Choreography, the B. Iden Payne Award for Outstanding Choreography and was selected five times for the Ballet Builder’s Showcase in New York. Ms. Patterson was most recently nominated for an Isadora Duncan Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Choreography. The Board of Directors expressed their excitement about the artistic future of the Ballet under Gina’s direction.

Meghann will continue to have a role at the Ballet as she will be working as a liaison as well as the choreographer of Nutcracker 2015.
