Angelo State University’s Master of Education degree in student development and leadership in higher education has been ranked as one of the “25 Best Online Master in Higher Education Degree Programs” in the U.S. by TheBestSchools.org, an educational resource website that ranks degree programs in all disciplines.
One of three programs at Texas schools to make the list, ASU’s program ranked 24th overall. According to an official statement, “TheBestSchools.org selected Angelo State University’s program based on several weighted factors, including academic excellence, course offerings, faculty strengths, and reputation, including reputation for online degree programs.”
Dr. John Miazga, dean of the ASU College of Education, said, “Our focus is to provide working students with the opportunity to advance their careers through successful completion of their chosen graduate program. Being recognized for our work is another factor in our development of high-quality online opportunities. Our faculty are dedicated to providing students the assistance they need to be successful professionals upon graduation.”
The other Texas schools on the list are the University of Houston and Sam Houston State University.

This marks the third time in 2014 that TheBestSchools.org has recognized one of ASU’s Master of Education programs. In July, ASU’s online master’s degree in guidance and counseling was ranked in the top 10 nationally, and the online master’s degree in educational administration was ranked in the top 25 nationally in August.
This is also just the latest national recognition for ASU’s online graduate education program, which in January was ranked No. 36 overall by U.S. News and World Report in its 2014 edition of “Best Online Programs.” In May, the program was ranked No. 8 nationally by U.S. News for its 2014 edition of “Best Online Programs for Veterans.”
