Region 15 Names Elementary Teacher of the Year

Angelo State University alumna Tara Salisbury has been named the Education Service Center Region 15 Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2013-14 school year.

A third-grade language arts teacher at Grape Creek Elementary School, Salisbury was also named the 2013-14 Grape Creek Intermediate Teacher of the Year. As both a campus and district Teacher of the Year, she was one of only 20 candidates for the Texas Association of School Administrators’ (TASA) Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year designation. All the regional and state winners were honored at a TASA banquet last week in Austin.

Salisbury earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education at ASU in 1996 and her master’s degree in school administration in 2012. She is married to Dr. Micheal Salisbury, chair of the ASU Department of Agriculture.

Two teachers from each of the 20 regional Education Service Centers are chosen annually as the Elementary Teacher of the Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year, making them eligible for the statewide TASA honors. More information is available online at www.tasanet.org/Page/91
