Wednesday, Aug. 20, is the date for SAISD’s annual Convocation, the back-to-school rally for all district employees. Convocation will begin at 9 a.m. at the Foster Communications Coliseum. Every SAISD campus and department will be recognized during the event, and successes of the past year will be highlighted.
This year’s keynote address will be given by motivational speaker Brad Cohen. Mr. Cohen is a former teacher and current administrator in Cobb County, Georgia. He was the subject of the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie “Front of the Class,” based on his auto-biographical first novel, which portrayed the journey of his struggles and victories with Tourette Syndrome. In addition to the keynote message, hundreds of SAISD students will participate in Convocation. The district will showcase musicians from our high school bands, choirs, and orchestras and will feature a combined Color Guard.
