Angelo State University’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 847 received a rating of Excellent on its recent Unit Compliance Inspection (UCI) performed by a team from the Holm Center for Officer Accession and Citizen Development, based at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.
Typically performed once every three years, the UCI was conducted in March, with formal results to be released in May. Inspectors examined all areas of the detachment’s operations to ensure it is operating in compliance with AFROTC and Air Force instructions. Those areas include: training, cadet personnel actions, recruiting, unit support, cadet financial management and education. Detachment 847 earned an Excellent rating in four out of six areas, resulting in an overall rating of Excellent.
Of the 35 detachments inspected so far in the 2013-14 academic year, only five have been rated as Excellent or Outstanding. Ratings include Outstanding, Excellent, Satisfactory, Marginal or Unsatisfactory.
Additionally for ASU, Master Sgt. Tracy Scott, non-commissioned officer in charge, personnel, was named the AFROTC Southwest Region Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2014, and the entire detachment staff was honored with the region’s quarterly Team Excellence Award. The Southwest Region includes 14 medium-sized detachments in 11 states from Mississippi to Hawaii.
