SAISD Announces Bad Weather Make Up Days

San Angelo ISD officials have announced that Friday, April 18, 2014, and Monday, May 19, 2014, are now both instructional days to make up for time lost due to winter weather. Classes will now be held on both days.

San Angelo ISD missed instructional days on December 6, 2013 and February 11, 2014, due to winter weather that left roads, parking lots, and other outdoor surfaces icy and unsafe.

The state requires two bad weather days during the spring semester to be built in to the district’s academic calendar. Bad weather make-up days designated in the approved 2013-14 academic calendar were May 19 (to be used first) and April 18. The bad weather day used on December 6 caused the make-up day of May 19 to become an instructional day. The bad weather day used on February 11 caused the make-up day of April 18 to become an instructional day.

I can understand May 19th.... but I'm sorry, I'm NOT sending my kids to school on Good Friday. Not when daycares are closed and I'm off work as well.
That would (and should) warrant an unexcused absence. Kind of selfish and immature to make your child suffer the consequences simply because you feel the need to make a point.
