Angelo State University’s Career Development Office will host veteran diplomat Julie Gianelloni Connor for a presentation on “Career Opportunities with the U.S. Department of State” on Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.
The presentation will run from 1-3 p.m. in Rooms 203/204 of the University Center and is open free to the public. Connor, diplomat in residence for Central Texas, will focus on State Department career avenues for adults, as well as the internship program and Pathways Programs for ASU students.
As a diplomat in residence, Connor is responsible for providing guidance and advice to students, professionals and the community about State Department careers. She previously served in Washington, D.C., as acting deputy assistant secretary of state and as acting deputy director and senior advisor for the State Department’s Office of International Women’s Issues, among other roles. A 32-year-veteran diplomat, her overseas assignments have included two postings to Bogota, Colombia, and two to Tel Aviv, Israel, as well as postings to Santiago, Chile; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Jakarta, Indonesia; Guatemala City; and Asuncion, Paraguay.
