Angelo State University’s Homecoming week is almost upon us, and the university is hosting a whole slew of events for students and alumni.
Beginning on Oct. 6 with a brisket cook-off and a washer pitching tournament from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and culminating in the Homecoming game between the ASU Rams and Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 12, the week will feature a variety of activities ranging from a pep rally, bonfire and a Murder Mystery Game Show contest to the nomination of Homecoming King and Queen and the ASU alumni dinner.
Recognized this year at the alumni dinner will be former San Angelo Mayor Alvin New, as the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus. Chris Sloan, head of Ambleside School of San Angelo, will be named the Distinguished Carr Alumnus. Tara Hart, ASU’s associate director of admissions, and Air Force Col. Casey Eaton, Class of 1993, will be recognized as the Honorary Alumna and Distinguished ROTC Alumnus, respectively. Dr. Mack McCoulskey, who played basketball for San Angelo College and spent 36 years on the ASU education faculty, will be honored as the Golden Ex of the Year, an ASU press release states.
