Two Juveniles in Custody After Armed Robbery in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — Two juveniles were taken into custody Thursday evening following an armed robbery in the 300 block of Koberlin Street, according to San Angelo Police Chief Travis Griffith.

The department’s communications center received a 911 call reporting an armed robbery in progress at 4:46 p.m. Officers were dispatched immediately, and responding units were able to quickly establish a perimeter and contain the area.

“Really proud of our police officers," Griffith said. "They had a really fast response to the scene, and we’re able to narrow down a location of the suspects. And I’m pleased to be able to say that we have two suspects in custody."

Police confirmed that no further threat to public safety remains. Due to the suspects being minors, no identifying information was released. The San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is now leading the case and is expected to issue a written statement once preliminary investigative work is complete.

Griffith said the robbery involved a weapon, but the specific type has not been confirmed.

“This is still an early-stage investigation. All information is fluid and subject to change,” he said.

No injuries were reported, and the suspects were apprehended without incident following containment of the area.

A formal update is expected later this evening or by Friday.
