SAPD Provides Update on Hit-and-Run that Killed 87-Year-Old Man

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The San Angelo Police Department is continuing its investigation in the horrific accident that killed 87-year-old Jesse Hernandez on Monday night.

Hernandez was crossing the street in his motorized wheelchair when he was struck by a driver in what has been described as a white, Ford Expedition.

During a Thursday afternoon press conference, Sgt Travis Griffth asked the public to provide any information that can lead to an arrest of the driver. He also encouraged the driver and those involved to come forward.

"If you are the individual that is responsible for this I understand that you have made a bad mistake and you can't make up for what happened," said Griffith. "You can start bringing closure to the Hernandez family."

Sgt. Griffith also thanked the public for submitting tips that can lead them closer to finding the individuals who are responsible for the death of Mr. Hernandez.

Citizens that live in the neighborhood surrounding Bell and Pulliam Street (within about 1 mile) are asked to review their video footage if it's available.

Detectives are looking to expand the search area to be within Main Street & St Johns (East and West) and Ricks Dr & Harris Ave (North and South).
