Odessa Police Arrest Auto Shop Owner in Customer Vehicle Burglary Scheme

ODESSA, TX — A 22-year-old man has been arrested and a 23-year-old remains wanted in connection with a series of auto burglaries in Southeast Odessa after police determined the suspects used customers’ vehicles left at a local repair shop to commit the crimes, the Odessa Police Department said Wednesday.

Jesus Munoz, 22, the owner of Doughboyz Fab and Audio at 2064 FM 1936, was arrested on warrants. Arturo Navarette, 23, is still being sought. Both were linked to multiple auto burglaries across the city, police said. The investigation remains open, and additional charges are expected.

Throughout 2026, officers responded to several auto burglaries in Southeast Odessa. After months of investigation that included the use of Flock license plate reader cameras, detectives determined that owners and associates of the shop were using vehicles dropped off by customers to carry out the thefts.

Flock cameras helped identify a black Chevrolet as a suspect vehicle. Its license plate was run through the system, and the vehicle was later located. The owner, who lives in Corsicana, had left the Chevrolet at Doughboyz Fab and Audio for repairs.

The system also identified a Mitsubishi Lancer used in the burglaries. Officers located that vehicle and spoke with its owner, who directed them to the person who had been operating it.

Most of the stolen property consisted of power tools and electronics. While some items were recovered, many lacked owner marks or recorded serial numbers. Police advised residents to document serial numbers or place identifiable labels on valuables.

In a side note, police said Munoz recently posted a photo on the business’s Facebook page with the caption “Breaking News: West Texas, Arrested – Owner of Doughboyz Fab & Audio, Arrested For Exceeding Customer Expectations!”
