Fired Llano Cop Arrested for Deadly Weapon Assault, Continuous Violence

LLANO, TX — A former Llano Police Department officer has been arrested on multiple felony charges stemming from an off-duty domestic violence incident, authorities said.

Steven Webster Patin, of Kingsland, was booked into the Llano County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, continuous violence against the family, and assault of a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation, according to a Llano Police Department media follow-up released Wednesday. 

Bonds were set at $125,000, $50,000 and $50,000, respectively.

The Texas Rangers are leading the active investigation. Patin was taken into custody without incident after warrants were issued, police said.

In an earlier media release Tuesday, the department said administrators learned of a potential off-duty domestic violence incident involving one of its officers. An internal inquiry confirmed the allegations, leading to the officer’s termination. The inquiry also uncovered criminal acts that prompted contact with the Texas Rangers and the subsequent criminal investigation.

“Domestic violence, in any form, is unacceptable and it goes against the very laws and principles we work to uphold as law enforcement officers. It will not be tolerated within our ranks,” Chief of Police John Bauer said in the Tuesday release.
