ABILENE, TX — Two individuals have been arrested and charged with murder for their involvement in a fentanyl overdose that resulted in the death of an Abilene woman.
Ralph Patin, 37, and Catherine Underwood, 32, both of Abilene, have been charged with murder of Kathryn Curry, Underwood’s mother.
According to reports, on May 14, the Abilene Police Department responded to a residence in the 4600 block of Coachlight Drive regarding a cardiac arrest. On scene, they located Curry and were unable to save her. Police found drug paraphernalia, a razor blade, Narcan and a plastic wrapper, which tested positive for fentanyl.
After an autopsy, it was determined that Curry died from fentanyl and diazepam.
Underwood claimed that Curry would get fentanyl from her and that they used it together.
A witness stated that Underwood purchased half a gram of fentanyl from Patin and that the drug was delivered in a small bag.
On July 30, 2026, Underwood and Patin were arrested by the Abilene Police Department on first-degree murder charges.
