Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office Arrests 3 in Child Sexual Abuse Material Investigations

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three men in separate child sexual abuse material investigations over the past 15 days after receiving tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, authorities announced Wednesday. 

Investigators obtained and executed three evidentiary search warrants based on the tips, which identified suspects and locations linked to possession of the material. Evidence was seized in each case, and complete or partial confessions were obtained from all three suspects, the sheriff’s office reported. 

On July 14, deputies executed a warrant in the 2400 block of North Lillie Street. Noah Ruiz, 18, was arrested the next day and charged with possession of child pornography (more than 10 but fewer than 50 visual depictions).On July 16, a warrant was served in the 600 block of Schroeder Street. Randy Jimenez, 43, was arrested the following day on the same charge. 

On July 28, deputies executed a warrant in the 3400 block of Chatterton Drive and took Leondez Tapia, 53, into custody on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold. Authorities said Tapia was in the country illegally and has prior arrests for illegal re-entry. That investigation remains open, and additional charges may be filed. 

The San Angelo Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Customs and Border Protection Air Branch assisted in the operations, the sheriff’s office stated.
