PECOS COUNTY, TX — A 48-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a 47-year-old woman whose body was found Tuesday morning in Iraan, the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Miguel Luna, of Iraan, was arrested and charged in the death of Claudia Ortiz after deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of East 7th Street. Ortiz was found with at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff T.J. Perkins requested assistance from the Texas Rangers in the investigation. After the scene was processed and interviews were conducted, authorities issued a warrant for Luna’s arrest. He was located and taken into custody without incident. Luna is being held at the Pecos County Jail.
The sheriff’s office thanked the Texas Rangers and other agencies for their assistance. The investigation remains active, and no further information is being released.
