Abilene Police Investigating Fatal Shooting

 

ABILENE, TX — A 41-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday night in Abilene.

The Abilene Police Department stated its officers responded to a call for service involving reports of gunfire in the 1700 block of South 13th Street at 10:18 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man identified as Mario Ramirez suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but Ramirez was declared deceased.

An individual who called 911 reported he had discharged a firearm toward Ramirez. The shooter remained on scene when police arrived and was questioned by investigators.

It is unclear if the shooting was accidental or in self-defense, but no arrest has been made.

The incident remains under investigation.
