COLORADO CITY, TX — A Mitchell County sheriff’s deputy was stabbed and a 42-year-old suspect was shot Friday evening when officers responded to a disturbance call at a residence in Colorado City, according to Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs.
The deputy and Colorado City police chief responded to the call. Upon entering the home, they encountered a suspect armed with a knife who attempted to flee. During the apprehension, the deputy was stabbed and the suspect was shot.
The suspect was identified as Felipe Anguiano, 42, of Colorado City. He was airlifted to Hendrick North Hospital in Abilene with gunshot wounds. The deputy was transported to Mitchell County Hospital for treatment.
The Texas Rangers have been called to assist in the investigation. No further information will be released at this time, the sheriff’s office said.
