AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety announced the arrest of a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive earlier this month in San Antonio.
Herbert Lee Souvenir, 47, was taken into custody April 17 following a tip that led authorities to a residence on the city’s south side. The arrest was carried out by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from DPS Criminal Investigations Division agents, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Attorney General’s Office, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Office of the Inspector General and the San Antonio Police Department. Texas Highway Patrol troopers also assisted.
Souvenir had been wanted out of Guadalupe County since January 2026 on a charge of sexual assault — enhanced (habitual).
According to DPS, Souvenir was previously convicted in 1998 of aggravated sexual assault of a child involving an 8-year-old victim and sentenced to 12 years in prison. In 2022, he was also convicted of assault causing bodily injury to a family member and later that year was convicted of burglary of a habitation, receiving eight years of probation.
A Texas Crime Stoppers reward will be paid in connection with his capture.
Officials said that so far in 2026, DPS and partner agencies have arrested 27 individuals from the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders and Criminal Illegal Immigrants lists, including 20 sex offenders and three gang members, with $45,500 paid out for tips leading to arrests.
Authorities remind the public that tips can be submitted anonymously through the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS, online through the DPS website or via Facebook.
