Grape Creek ISD Locked Down After Wanted Suspect Flees Deputies

GRAPE CREEK, TX - Earlier today, deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office attempted to make contact with a wanted subject in the area of Grape Creek ISD.

The individual fled from deputies on foot and was potentially on the grounds of the school. As a precaution, a lockdown of the school was initiated. The suspect has been identified, but was not named in a media release. Deputies and other law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the area as a precaution. Law enforcement personnel worked closely with school officials during the incident.

At this time, the campus area has been cleared and secured, and the school lockdown was lifted prior to the scheduled time of dismissal, information stated.

While a law enforcement presence will remain in the area, there is no active threat to the school or the surrounding community.

"The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office appreciates the cooperation of Grape Creek ISD staff and students during this incident," information from the sheriff's office stated. "Additional information will be shared as it becomes available."
