Big Spring High Student Arrested for Gun on Campus

 

BIG SPRING, TX — A juvenile student at Big Spring High School was arrested Wednesday morning after a security guard spotted the teen in possession of a firearm on campus, according to the Big Spring Police Department. 

Officers responded around 10:24 a.m. to the school in the 700 block of East 11th Place following the report. Upon arrival, police consulted with school officials and the student. The teen was taken into custody without incident, the firearm was secured, and the student was transported to the Juvenile Probation Office for processing. 

The student faces charges of possession of a weapon on a prohibited premise in a weapon-free school zone. 

Police stated that school staff responded quickly and cooperated fully. Authorities stated that the incident was isolated and stated there is no ongoing threat to the campus. 

The investigation continues.
