Odessa Permian Teacher Charged With Kidnapping

ODESSA, TX — An Odessa Permian High School teacher was arrested Tuesday after deputies discovered a missing 15-year-old student at her home, according to the Ector County Sheriff’s Office.

Tracie Annette Garza, 53, was charged with kidnapping and taken into custody without incident.

Sheriff Mike Griffis stated that deputies received a call Feb. 13 about a runaway student that didn’t return home after attending school that day.

The following day, deputies received a tip that the student was seen at a local Chick-fil-A with the teacher.

Deputies then located the student at the teacher’s residence, and a warrant was obtained soon after for kidnapping.

Garza is currently being held at Ector County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
