Texas Rangers Investigating Fatal Shooting That Left 5 Dead

 

HALE COUNTY, TX — The Texas Rangers are investigating a fatal shooting that left five adults dead early Saturday morning in the Seth Ward neighborhood just outside Plainview, authorities said.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Hale County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Texas Rangers at approximately 3:40 a.m. Saturday, after a shooting was reported in the 2700 block of Upchurch.

Four adults were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Hector Alonso Sanchez, 28; Tanya Paola Valadez Rangel, 30; Rosalba Saenz Rodriguez, 47; and Saul Villa, 33, who authorities identified as the assailant.

A fifth victim, Reily Joseph Zavala Barrientos, 21, was transported to Covenant Hospital–Plainview, where he was pronounced dead.

DPS officials said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation.

No additional details were released as of Saturday.
