San Angelo Man Arrested for Lewd Assault of Child

SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man has been arrested for sexual assault of a child after he was already convicted of indecent assault last year.

Mike Rodriquez, 27, was arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a child under the age of 17 in August 2025.

According to court documents, on Oct. 8, 2025, a San Angelo police officer was dispatched to a house near Paint Rock Road regarding the sexual assault of a child. There, the officer spoke with the child victim and their mother. The victim stated that on or about Aug. 10, 2025, an adult man identified as Rodriquez took the child to his residence that was outside the San Angelo city limits, where he sexually assaulted them.

Due to the alleged crime occurring outside the city limits, the case was forwarded to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.

On Oct. 9, 2025, the child victim was forensically interviewed at the Hope House. There, the victim said that on Aug. 10, 2025, Rodriquez contacted them and asked that they sneak out of their house. The victim did so, and Rodriquez picked them up and took them to his residence.

At his residence, the two went into his bedroom, where he removed the victim’s clothing and sexually assaulted the child on his bed. After that, Rodriquez drove the child back to their residence and dropped them off down the street.

During the investigation, the investigator obtained a search warrant for Rodriquez's phone records and location data. That information showed that Rodriquez was in the area where the child lives around 12:28 a.m. on Aug. 11, 2025. It then showed movement back to Rodriquez’s residence before going back to the area near the victim’s house. The investigator also learned that the victim called Rodriquez’s phone around 6:25 a.m., which matched the victim’s statement about calling him to let him know they had gotten back into the residence.

At the time of the alleged assault, the victim was under the age of 17, and Rodriquez was 26 years old. 

Rodriquez was previously convicted of indecent assault on March 3, 2025.

Rodriquez was arrested on Jan. 22, 2026, and booked into the Tom Green County Jail, where he is being held on $150,000 bond.
