Abilene ISD Band Director Charged With Possession of Child Porn

ABILENE, TX — An Abilene ISD band director was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of child pornography.

Lance Mosley, the band director at Mann STEAM Academy, wasn’t allowed on campus once the school learned of the allegations, according to an email sent to parents by the district.

The email also stated the district was in the process of notifying the State Board for Education Certification, which is required by law.

“We are cooperating fully with law enforcement to keep our students safe as they investigate this matter. The protection of our children is our top priority, and we are committed to providing a safe and secure place for every AISD student to go to school,” Mann STEAM Academy principal Chad Drake said in the email.

Mosley reportedly uploaded the suspected child abuse material in July.

Authorities were alerted to Mosley by a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Mosley was booked into the Taylor County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
