SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo man accused of multiple sex crimes involving a child pled guilty Monday morning, avoiding a scheduled jury trial in 51st District Court.
Brian Antonio Garcia, 43, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in November 2024 on seven felony charges: four counts of sexual assault of a child, two counts of indecency with a child by exposure, and one count of indecency with a child by sexual contact.
According to court records, Garcia pled guilty to one count of indecency with a child by exposure, a third-degree felony. The remaining six counts were dismissed.
Judge Carmen Dusek sentenced Garcia to 10 years of community supervision (probation), deferred adjudication, and ordered him to pay a $5,000 fine. He must also register as a sex offender, and the victim is now protected under a lifetime protective order. No restitution was ordered.
During the hearing, Dusek told jurors that Garcia’s guilty plea came shortly before the trial was set to begin, saying the evidence was “horrible.”
According to the indictment, the crimes occurred on July 26 and Aug. 8, 2020, and involved a child younger than 17.
