Manhunt Underway for Armed Theft Suspect in Coleman County

COLEMAN, TX — Law enforcement agencies across West Central Texas are searching for a suspect believed to be involved in a string of thefts and burglaries in recent days, including in the City of Coleman, Coleman County, and Brown County.

The Coleman Police Department, Coleman County Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies are attempting to locate Scotty Ray Dyer, who is wanted in connection with multiple incidents where vehicles, equipment, firearms, and services were reported stolen.

Dyer, considered armed and dangerous, was last seen in the early morning hours of July 24 just outside the city limits of Coleman. He is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing around 140 pounds, with brown and gray hair, a scar above his right eye, and tattoos on both arms, right shoulder, and chest.

Authorities are urging the public not to approach or attempt to apprehend Dyer. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately, stay on the line with dispatchers, and provide details about his appearance, location, and direction of travel.

As a precaution, officials advise residents to remove keys from vehicles and secure all doors to homes, businesses, and outbuildings.
