SAN ANGELO, TX — A man wanted in connection to the 2024 death of a 4-month-old girl in Harris County was arrested in San Angelo on Saturday morning after a public alert and brief manhunt.
Jeremy Fancher, 38, was booked into the Tom Green County Jail at 11:30 a.m. on a murder warrant issued by Harris County. He is being held without bond.
San Angelo LIVE! has learned that the warrant stems from the death of Brookelynn Fancher, who was found unresponsive inside a dresser drawer at a motel on Rancho Mission Drive near Bellaire Boulevard on May 26, 2024. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the child was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Harris County medical examiner's office said she was killed by suffocation.
Fancher and the child’s mother, 20-year-old Destiny Campos, had reportedly been living at the motel for over a year. Court records show the couple was preparing for a Memorial Day celebration when they discovered the child was not breathing. Fancher told investigators he attempted CPR after removing the baby from the drawer.
Following a year-long investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and CSI units, both parents were charged with murder. Campos was arrested on June 20 and booked into the Harris County Jail. Fancher was found in San Angelo the next day.
The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office issued a public alert Saturday morning, warning residents that Fancher had been spotted near Paint Rock Road and East Loop 306. He was reportedly wearing a gray hoodie and green undershirt. A second alert confirmed his arrest around 11 a.m.
Also arrested was Marilyn Jennifer Mork, identified as Fancher’s current girlfriend, on a charge of hindering apprehension. She was also booked into the Tom Green County Jail.
Sheriff Gonzalez said the case involved “horrific details” and thanked multiple partner agencies — including the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), Texas Department of Public Safety, San Angelo Police Department, and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office — for their assistance.
“Thanks to them we are closer to securing justice for baby Brookelynn,” Gonzalez said in a public statement.
