Suspect Identified in Buffalo Heights Standoff

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Authorities have identified the man involved in Wednesday’s shooting and standoff in the Buffalo Heights subdivision as Larry Don Ballard, 72, of San Angelo.

Ballard has been charged with Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant, a first-degree felony. He remains under the supervision of the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office while receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.

Deputies responded to a reported domestic dispute at a residence on Lakota Lane around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, they were met with gunfire. Deputies returned fire and secured the scene with assistance from multiple agencies. No law enforcement officers were injured.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting. Officials say the investigation remains active, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
